Start Off your Dog Training with these Three Basic Commands

The very first lesson in your dog training should start from your side; yes, it is the belief that you can train your dog the way you want it to be. Once you make your mind and be ready with a positive attitude to meet the challenges then all the tasks will start falling in exact places where they are intended to be and in no time you can get your dog trained effectively.

However, there are certain laid down basic obedience training when it comes to training your dog, especially when it is in its puppy stage and you can get to know them by reading a good book on dog training or by contacting a dog trainer. Hiring a good dog trainer need not necessarily be expensive at all, as you can get your dog imparted with the basic training in no time.

Three Fundamental Dog Training Commands

The main three basic dog training commands are the words Sit, Stay and Come. Initially, in order to make your dog to respond your basic commands, you need to reward your dog with treats whenever your dog responds favorably to your commands. Always start your basic command training in a reasonably quiet area and start off with the first basic command “Sit”.

Keep ready the treat so that your dog can see and make it respond to your command and you can even make your dog physically push to sit initially. And this way you can make your dog understand the meaning of the command and now you can reward your dog with the treat on hand.

Repeat this for few times and slowly your dog will start to respond to the “Sit” command without fail. Note to give your dog the intended treat when it responds to your command and you should also note to praise its behavior that will serve as a booster.

The second of basic command set is the word “Stay”. Though you may find difficult to make your dog to respond to this command, your concerted effort will bear fruits and soon your dog will start staying where it is the moment you instruct it to do so. In order to make your dog learn the “Stay” command fast, you can use it along with the “Come” command, as this method will be beneficial in few cases.

First let your dog in a open place and move a little away from your pet and as you start moving away from your dog keep repeating the word “Stay” duly maintaining your eye contact with your dog. In case your dog gets up and start moving, then use the word “no” in a stern voice and sure your dog will hesitate to move and in turn start learning to stay.

You need a great patience in teaching your dog this basic stay command and once you make your dog respond successfully to your command then you can start the next level of training. Make your dog stay in a place and you can walk away from it by turning your back towards your dog.

If your dog happens to get up use the word no in combination with the command stay and slowly your dog will learn to respond to your command and stay where it is. Once you see your dog staying and waiting for your next command, then you can use the third of command set namely the “Come” command.

When you dog has learned the first two commands, it will be natural for your dog to respond to the “come” command without any hesitation and you can achieve better results in a quick way reasonably.

Besides the basic training meant for your dog, there is one basic rule for the dog owner to follow and it is nothing but the word of praise for your dog. Never fail in praising your dog whenever it responds favorably to your command and in no circumstances should you try to punish your dog for not responding to any of your commands.

The first lesson for the dog owner is that your dog will start learning things faster in a friendlier atmosphere rather than a hostile environment. Your patience will certainly turn to be a rewarding one and you can get your dog trained in a nice manner fast.
