Little Known Details of Breed-Rescue Volunteers’ World and their Indomitable Job

Some 20 years back the word of stray dog was not known to many, but today the stray dog menace has assumed an alarming proportion and has become an endemic in nature. The scene of many dogs without homes has seen the birth of a powerful movement and many people started volunteering for breed rescue movement that could see many homeless dogs getting a home.

The breed rescue groups consist of people who has got passion and concern for dogs and you can also see few breed rescue groups getting their job restricted only with one breed of dog exclusively. Few of these groups or organizations are relatively small consisting of only two or three members each and they spend their valuable time helping homeless dogs finding sponsors or finding a good shelter in any of the non-profit organizations.

There are also groups that do their job very professionally and on need basis too. Normally such breed rescue groups maintain the list of home needy dogs held in private homes and in other temporary shelters, and refer them to potential adopters. The main idea of any such group is to ensure that the homeless dog gets a decent living home with a family that would take care of it for the rest of its life.

You can also come across few members of the dog breed rescue groups maintaining many dogs themselves till they find a good and a permanent home for the dog. These volunteers also go around and pick stray dogs, as these people enjoy taking care and fostering such hapless and homeless breeds, and they do their job with passion and put their heart and soul into it and never rest till they find a suitable home for the dog.

Dog breeds are many and similar to this the dog breed rescue community is also diverse and varied in nature making it difficult to either arrive or devise a set “standard” for them to operate on. Being a voluntary organization, the emphasis will be on the job of finding a suitable home for the homeless dog and normally 2 to 4 people join together to form a breed rescue group and work in coordination with other similar groups. Again, as said earlier, there may be groups that restrict its action only with certain breeds so as to make their rescue job more effective and specific.

You can also find the volunteers taking the rescued dogs to a veterinarian first to give any immediate medical attention and vaccination. They also make sure that the rescued dogs are neutered or spayed thus saving the adopting families from some anticipated future problems. A small fees is collected from the adopting family and all these amount will be ploughed back into the job of rescuing other pets.
