1. First ensure that your dog has received all the necessary vaccinations shots and none are due by the next one month at least. In any case you find any one of the vaccinations is due shortly, then you must carry all the necessary vaccination certificates along with other veterinary information with you, as the same may prove to be useful while crossing borders of two countries or if you have to put your dog in a cage in any of the visiting places. The veterinary and certificate papers are vital for getting your dog transported to a different country.

Further, you may also face some unforeseen emergencies such as your dog falling ill and in such a situation the certificates and other veterinary information will come to your aid in giving your dog the needed medical attention by a veterinary doctor.

2. You must give a thorough and complete thought when it comes to the food items required for your dog during its travel with you in your car. As far as possible try to procure all the necessary items meant for your dog and stock it in your car. It may be possible for you to forgo or do without your regular necessities while traveling, but you cannot expect your dog to be like you.

However, when it comes to the various needs of your dog while travelling, it is always simple and hence you should be able to fulfil them without much difficulty. You may make a list of needed items in advance so that you will not miss any of the essential items. However, a ready-made list, which you may find useful, is given below:

First aid emergency kit, sufficient drinking water, water and feed bowl, dog food and your dog’s favorite snacks in sufficient quantities, blankets used by your dog, toys, dog leash, dog brush and other grooming aids, and other cleaning aids such as paper towels, and napkins.

3. The most important caution is that you should never leave your dog inside your parked car, that too in hot sun. The inside temperature of a sun parked car might jump even to 125 degrees Fahrenheit and a dog normally doesn’t survive this high temperature. Even a small opening in the car window specifically made by you will also not suffice to protect your dog from the intense heat inside the car.

Even in cold climate if your dog is made to sit inside a car, your dog may develop complications and you may have to regret later for your stupidity of confining your dog inside your car for such a long time. For any reason if you have leave your car, then make it a point to be as brief as possible for avoiding any unanticipated eventuality happening to your dog left inside your car.
