Rescue Dogs

These rescue type of working group dogs sport a very hefty powerful body with dense hair and they are even capable of carrying out rescue operations in cold water too. These dogs make a very good family pet and love company of children very much.

Portuguese Water Dog, Saint Bernard and Newfoundland are good examples for rescue type of dogs.

Personal Protection Dogs

This type of dogs were specifically bred for the purpose guarding persons and properties and with their large body these dogs prove to be an effective deterrent to any intruder. These dogs are also much devoted, strong, intelligent, and affectionate to their owners besides being very cautious with strangers.

If you are a confident owner, then you can get this type of dog very dominant and aggressive by giving it the necessary socialization training and you must also cater to its regular exercise needs.Boxer, Giant Schnauzer, Standard Schnauzer and Doberman Pinscher are few examples that come under this category of dogs.

Estate Guarding Dogs

This type of dog has got a powerful muscular body and hence it will be able to protect your family and your belongings within your territory. Besides being loyal, these dogs are also devoted and can go to any extent in protecting you and your property. You can train this type of dog to become more aggressive and dominant and these dogs also expect a strong will-powered owner. A good socialization training can also make this dog type more friendly and gentle with strangers.

Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd, Akita, Rottweiler, Mastiff, Komondor, Bullmastiff, and Kuvasz are few examples of good estate guarding dogs.

Sled Dogs

They are also popularly called as Nordic breed and were originally bred for the purpose drawing sleds in snow. Nature has given this type of dogs a very thick insulated coat that keep them warm in hostile cold climates and these dogs are poor performers in warmer or hot climates.

Due to presence of more than required hair, these dogs shed hair frequently and hence require regular brushing and it is not advisable to go for this breed of dog if you are allergic to hair. However, this breed can serve the purpose of a friendly companion and extend all its playful nature to you and your kids in snow. You need to give this type of dog a good exercise and note to train them early for better socialization and obedience.

Alaskan Malamute, Samoyed, and Siberian Husky are the few names that fall under this type of sled dog category.
