Discipline Your Pup with these Fundamental Training Tips

Rearing a puppy pet at home is filled with expectation of fun and happiness though the dog itself is anxious about its environment. The puppy, at the outset, may not be friendly but nervous and confused due to new home and surroundings. So you should give the pet some time to get itself acclimitised to the new environment and life style.

Prior to the pet’s arrival, place all low lying materials at a higher place beyond its reach. Otherwise it may create a mess out of your personal belongings out of curiosity. After it adjusts itself to the new location you can bring things down to their original position.

Always look at the puppy in his eyes to instill confidence. He will soon accept you as his master which will be of great help in training your pet.

Be friendly but firm in communication. Don’t be too friendly and give him too much freedom. It will send out wrong signals that he can do anything he likes. Some puppies, in groups, have leadership qualities. Ensure that you are the boss and not the puppy. This will be useful in his future training.

Using a crate is a good idea to make him feel at home. As puppies belong to wolf family they relish to have their own den. Let the crate be small, not too big to scare, having enough space for it to stand and restrict its movement. Gently put the pet in to the crate and slowly too.

Don’t start training your pet until it gets adjusted to its surroundings and becomes familiar with your home and family. After this, times will be promising and enjoyable for you as well as the pet.
